How to Make a Hemp Salve

People are going crazy over Hemp salve because it doesn't require any special license and anyone, in any state can make it because hemp oil is legal everywhere. Hemp salve works better than any other salve I've ever made for arthritis pain. The United States imports hemp from Canada and part of Europe.

I use this salve personally and on my arthritic horse, Apollo.

This recipe will make approximately ten ounces of salve in total.  I used five 2 oz tins to store the salves in.

INGREDIENTS

• 1 cup Hemp Oil
• 1 ounce beeswax
• 1 ounce refined shea butter (unrefined also works, but has a distinct scent)

DIRECTIONS

Make a double boiler by putting a smaller pot over a larger pot that has a couple inches of water in it.  You can also use glass visionware to prevent metal leeching into your medicine.   Put the hemp oil into the smaller pot and bring the water to a gentle simmer.

Add the beeswax to the oil and stir often.  A wood skewer works well as a stir stick.

When the beeswax is almost completely dissolved, add the shea butter.  Stir until it is completely dissolved.  Carefully pour the hot salve into your desired containers or tins.

Let them sit undisturbed until they completely solidify, it usually takes an hour or two.

If you want to add an essential oil for scent and to increase the medicinal value of your salve, add 5-6 drops of essential oil into the tins after you have poured them and stir with the skewer. I prefer Plant Therapy because there are organic choices.

I love using this salve for any kind of muscle pain, tension, arthritis, and my daughter uses it for her eczema with incredible success. If you want to use it but don't want to make it, send me an email and ask if I have any leftovers from my last batch.
